Pearl Izumi

"WE BELIEVE INTELLIGENTLY ENGINEERED PERFORMANCE APPAREL CAN ENABLE THE ATHLETE TO BE FASTER, MORE COMFORTABLE, AND ULTIMATELY PERFORM BETTER."

It is in this spirit Pearl Izumi was born. Founded in the mountains of the Nagano Prefecture region of Japan in 1950, Pearl Izumi grew from the textile industry. Our founder, Kinji Shimizu, learned his trade manning looms in Lida City, creating textiles that literally had performance characteristics woven into their very fabric.

Mr. Shimizu’s son, an aspiring bike racer, complained that the clothing of the day hindered his cycling performance. The concept that apparel could be engineered to aid the user in all conditions was born from the real-world needs of the athlete in motion.

Today, more than 60 years after our founding, that entrepreneurial spirit and user-centric focus to empower the athlete still drives us.

Specialized

Specialized was founded in 1974 by Mike Sinyard, a cycling enthusiast who sold his Volkswagen Bus to fund a cycle tour of Europe. After importing difficult-to-find bike parts from Italy, Sinyard decided to start producing his own parts in 1976. Based out of Morgan Hill, California, Specialized strives to build products that help people enjoy the sport as much as they do. Period.

7IDP

The Boa Closure System is durable, lightweight, and provides unmatched adjustment on the fly. This is great for Enduro racing or trail use to loosen the pad for the uphill and then tighten for the downhill sections. 7IDP offers a solution to pads slipping off the knee and down the leg — elastic straps stretch and contract exposing the knee cap, but with the Boa Closure System this problem is eliminated.
